SOUND of SWING is a non-profit corporation in the State of Washington, with IRS 501 C. (3) approval under EIN 20-2523976.
Bellevue’s SoS Big Band was started in March 2002 at the North Bellevue Community Center by Bill Erickson, pianist, and Jack Hakala, bassist. Previously, they played in other big bands, pit orchestras and combos, including many gigs around Seattle with their jazz combo COUNT 4.
Sponsored by the Bellevue Parks Dept., SoS Big Band’s mission is playing music from the big band era for dancing and listening. Its objective is to provide healthy recreation for its audiences and band members. All dedicated volunteers, most members are retirees from various professions. The band plays for monthly and quarterly dances at the Center as a public service. It also performs concerts for the general public and at private functions for donations to help defray expenses.
